Rare Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers “Tumblin’ Down” 7″ Edit (Promo)

Tonight I’m sharing a very rare item from my personal archives.  I have included the  7″ edit of “Tumblin’ Down,” a single from the 1988 modern classic album Conscious Party.  “Tumblin’ Down” is a 1988 single by Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers that was the most successful of three entries on the Hot Black singles chart, where it peaked at number one for two weeks.   Although the single did not place on the Hot 100, it peaked at number twenty-eight on the dance charts.

The song was written by Ziggy Marley and beloved Wailers keyboardist, Tyrone Downey.

Scientist Dubs Bob Marley

I recently obtained this video of the Jamaican dub legend of King Tubby fame Scientist dubbing “Lively Up Yourself” for Sideway Outernational .  Evidently, this killer dub track was included, without Outernational’s permission,  on Tuff Gong’s “Bob Marley and the Wailers In Dub Vol. 1,” which was released through Amazon in 2010.

There is no doubt that Tuff Gong owns the rights to the track “Lively Up Yourself” as Bob wrote and performed it.  As for asking permission to use it from the dub track producer?  Well, let’s say it’s just another day in the Jamaican music business.

The album features several amazing dub tracks of Bob Marley and the Wailers’ most legendary songs.  I have included a copy of the finished track here for you to check out.  Since it is on the official Tuff Gong release, downloads have been disabled.

I highly recommend you purchase the digital album from Amazon.  You won’t be disappointed.
