The Neverending Wailers Demo feat. Junior Braithwaite and Andrew Tosh

The Never Ending Wailers is an album of restructured classics that Bunny Wailer initiated with Peter Tosh in the early eighties. Tosh was tragically murdered in 1987, but the project was completed over seven years. Junior Braithwaite, the original Wailers’ lead vocalist, and Peter’s son Andrew Tosh participated in the recording of the album.  Although Braithwaite and Constantine “Dizzy” Walker performed one song at Madison Square Gardens in 1986, a planned tour in support of the album never materialized.

The Never Ending Wailers album was less popular than anticipated when released in 1991.

Jack Ruby Auditions

Jack Ruby was a Jamaican record producer and sound system operator, best known for his 1970s productions of artists such as Burning Spear.

Ruby was based in Ocho Rios and during his time was the only major Jamaican record producer not headquartered in Kingston. He ran the Jack Ruby Hi Fi sound system and is considered one of the best roots reggae producers of the 1970s, having established a distinctive sound, noted for the unique use of horn arrangements.

He is the grandfather of reggae singer Sean Kingston.

Jack Ruby was known for auditioning all comers on the streets and in his backyard.  I have included several audition tapes here.  I hope you find them as fascinating as I do.

Bob Marley and the Wailers “Uprising” Album (Alternate Version)

I put together an “alternate version” of the Uprising album from various unreleased demos, rehearsals, dubs, and alternate versions of the tracks.  I love this album, in fact, it may be my favorite Bob Marley and the Wailers’ album, although sometimes I feel it is too polished.  Hopefully, this alternate version will help give you a different perspective on the album.

Many thanks to those who have seeded this music over the years including Dubwise Garage, Chunga, Chico, Librarian, SOT, was1, and the rest I’m forgetting.  Respect to Roger Steffens for sharing this material to begin with.  Please visit www.reggaetraders.net.
