Peter Tosh: Live at Gaillard Municipal Auditorium, Charleston, SC
REGGAE STAR TO SHINE IN CHARLESTON
by Bill Thompson
Yet another concert preview for a rare Peter Tosh performance! This show takes place at the Gaillard Municipal Auditorium in Charleston, SC on August 1, 1981 as part of the ‘Wanted: Dread and Alive’ tour.
This review is noteworthy for several reasons. First, this write-up was written by Bill Thompson and published on July 31, 1981 in the Charleston News and Courier. As you can see, the write-up references a Tosh show which is slated to occur the following night. There is no record of this show in any Peter Tosh Tour Dates listing that I could find.
The other interesting note is the mention in the 3rd paragraph of 4 backing bands, Word, Sound, and Power not included. these groups include Rolly Gray, Sunfire, Charles Erland, and Odyssey. Tosh had a virtual orchestra on stage that night!
