Jah Raver’s Dreada Dubs and Vocals Vol. VIII (An EXCLUSIVE MIDNIGHT RAVER Mix

For the eighth installment of my Dreada Dubs & Vocals Mix I hail up those artists who have emerged over the past several years as part of the so-called “reggae revival” in Jamaica.  For the first time in more than a decade I am optimistic about the direction these youths are taking this music.  At the foundation we have Addis Pablo and the Suns of Dub.  Addis was the very first revival artist we ever highlighted, with our interview with the young talent in 2012.  Addis and RasJammy are holding it down proper.  Here we have included several tunes from 2014 and a blazing new track titled “Master Plan” from the Dub Choir EP (Music by BuzzRock Band) a 9 track live band Dub, Roots, Reggae EP, featuring the BuzzRock band from Trinidad & Tobago.  I included my favorite track from 2014’s Natural Numbers in Dub titled “Dub and Blind.”  Add to that two tracks from the new Mad professor LP Dubbing With Anansi.

Must send a shout to Jah Cure and fam who I had the pleasure of visiting with at Frenchman’s Cove in Portland, Jamaica during my December 2014 trip to Jamaica.  The Cure goes hot over the Militancy riddim on “Territory.”  Also included is the B-side to the Overstand 7″, Jesse Royal’s outstanding “Preying on the Weak” plus version.  Back weh from Vivian Jones on “Bhingy Dready”…heavy nyabinghi style on that one.  Strap in for a raw, raw dub from Capital Letters, a Spear-influenced remix of Jesse Royal’s “Wadada,” and a mixdown from Iba Mahr that will leave you gazing.  Whoaaa!

From there the mix just goes up in flames with an exclusive Rodigan cut, new Lutan Fyah live and direct from Bulpus at Tuff Gong, a new cut from Damian Marley, an EXCLUSIVE Dub Architect mix of Bob Marley’s “Burnin’ and Lootin,'” and we wrap the mix with two from DC’s Thomas Blondet on the Rhythm & Culture label plus two discomixes from Alborosie’s Sound The System Showcase.
