Lost Lucky Dube Interview

Another MIDNIGHT RAVER exclusive from the archives of Peter van Arnhem.

On 18 October 2007, the Lucky Dube, one of reggae’s most beloved artists, was shot and killed during a carjacking in the Johannesburg suburb of Rosettenville shortly after dropping two of his seven children off at their uncle’s house.  Five men were arrested in connection with the murder;  three were tried and found guilty on 31 March 2009. The men were sentenced to life in prison.

Back in 1999 I interviewed Lucky Dube here in Groningen, NL shortly before his concert in De Oosterpoort.  Part of the interview we edited in a Distant Drums (fanzine) leaflet, which we distributed at a Morgan Heritage concert in 2000.
