Some fantastic choices in that list King. Respect due. You repped hard for the VI artists. They have without a doubt owned the first fifteen years of the new millennium. Any of these albums could have made my list and some did. I did however sleep on the Abja album. Totally forgot how crucial that one is. Thanks for the thoughtful post.

  7. Donovan says:

Great list. My personal Top 5 goes like this:

1 – General Michigan Meets McPullish at Dub Cove (2012) – Nobody talks about this killer release. Features “Unity Chant” with Sylford Walker.

2 – The Uplifters – Burning Bush (2002) – I wish these guys had hit it big like SOJA and Groundation. Alas, they broke up shortly after releasing this masterpiece.

3 – Midnite – Assini (2002) – Every track is a winner. Uncontrollable bass, you better have big speakers when you spin this one.

    4 – Fya – Dezarie (2001) – All ah dem will get…

5 – Vernon Maytone – On The Right Track (2013) – Maytone(s) never fade way! He’s got a brand new LP out at the time of writing (In The Mood). Can’t wait to get the vinyl.

    1. midnightraverblog says:

Great list. You can’t lose with Midnite or Dezarie. I must check your #1. Is it really that good?

      1. Donovan says:

It hits like a bomb. Great songs like No More War, Jungle, Unity Chant and Natty Natty. To quote Smiley: “I was in love with love before love knew it”! 🙂

  8. Donovan says:

Woops, that is General Smiley, not General Michigan!
